The Sewciety’s September box was full of some really great things, including my favorite mini project! Check out the unboxing as well as a sneak peak of next month’s main project.

The main project for the September box was the Taylor Leggings from Laela Jeyne. I basically live in leggings during the week as I’m often going to the gym in between all my daily errands and school runs. The fabric was a fun gray and green plaid supplex, or a nice teal, depending on what you set as your preferences when signing up for the box. I’m glad I got the gray as I prefer darker colors for my workout leggings since I sweat a lot and it doesn’t show it as much as lighter colors do. Clear elastic, matching thread, and fabric clips were also included in the box to complete the project.

The Taylor Leggings has 3 views: plain with no side seam, 3 piece leg with pockets, and 4 piece color block leg with pockets. I have sewn leggings before and wasn’t sure how the fit would be since there isn’t a gusset in this pattern. I was pleasantly surprised with this pattern! I made the plain view with no side seam and it fit GREAT! For more details on these leggings, check out my sneak peak from last month.

The mini project for September was earrings, which I am so excited about! I had been wanting to make a pair of earrings from fabric and this box finally made me do it. I chose the gold cork for the larger piece and the fish fabric for the smaller piece. I am so in love with this gold cork that I want to buy more to make a bag or something with it!

And now for the sneak peak of October’s box!

The main project for October is the Brasov top from Itch-to-Stitch with black and white striped rayon spandex fabric. The fabric reminds me of zebra print and I’m totally okay with that because I am 100% on board with animal print trend happening right now!

This top is flattering to everyone with the side pleating and would look great in both structured fabric, like cotton lycra, and fabric with more drape, such as this rayon spandex. I also thought this top was really fun to make because I just love sewing pleats! The instructions were easy to follow and everything came together very nicely. I even got to use my coverstitch for the first time on this project!
I can’t wait to see everyone’s Brasov top and to find out what other goodies are in the October box!
